WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Rocketman, bumbling rocket scientist Fred Randall (Harland Williams) is selected as a last minute replacement on a manned mission to Mars. Chaos ensues when Fred butts heads with the cocky crew captain on the way to the red planet, falls hard for the Mission Specialist (Jessica Lundy), and is outwitted by Ulysses, the mischievous space chimp. While Fred may be NASA’s nightmare, his hilarious participation in this mission proves to be his ultimate dream.

LaserDisc Picture:
All aspects of visual quality are superb in this 1.82:1 transfer. Eye-popping color and clarity, mixed with wacky hijinks, make this film a pleaser for its pre-teen target audience.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Digital 5.1 discrete and matrix soundtracks are virtually the same in fidelity, though the matrix version projects a fuller and more spatial surround soundfield, even with the occasional split surround effects and .1 low frequency effects of the discrete. Dialogue sounds generally natural with good spatial integration. The music is spread slightly wider across the soundstage in the discrete, which also delivers powerful bass response.
