WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
She’s Having A Baby is a touching, poignant comedy that stars Kevin Bacon as Jake Briggs, a young man who has surrendered his freedom to marry the love of his life, Kristi (Elizabeth McGovern). Under parental pressures of leading a responsible and domesticated life, Jake sets aside his aspirations of becoming a novelist to work at an ad agency. Now Kristi has a bit of news that should make things interesting… she’s having a baby. Their solutions to real-life problems make this sensitive and emotional film wonderful.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.85:1, exhibits some inconsistencies. Interior scenes are often wanting in clarity, as colors tend to bleed. Exteriors seem a bit oversaturated with brownish fleshtones and vibrant, unnatural colors. Images are generally sharp and detailed, though sometimes appearing a bit soft. Minor noise and artifacts are apparent for an overall mediocre visual experience.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround soundtrack is a conventional sound design with the music score providing the surround presence. Interior scenes often collapse to monaural, but dialogue is generally natural sounding. The contrast between the music and the rest of the sound makes for an uneven experience.
