WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Gattaca is a subtle and haunting vision of the future. In a world where parents are able to choose the genetic makeup of their children, Vincent Freeman (Ethan Hawke) is conceived naturally. Because his parents chose not to create him in a lab, Vincent is labeled an “In-Valid.” His 21st century faults are what we now would call virtues; he is passionate, emotional and believes in achieving his dreams. He is also fiercely determined to do whatever is necessary to achieve his ambitions. That is why he opts for intricate subterfuge to outwit authorities and become a navigator at the futuristic Gattaca Corporation. On the verge of fulfilling his dream to be aboard a rocket bound for Titan, Saturn’s fourteenth moon, Vincent’s counterfeit life is threatened to be exposed in a murder investigation
