WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based on the award-winning children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg, the story begins when young Alan Parrish discovers a mysterious board game and is magically transported into the untamed jungles of Jumanji before the startled eyes of his friend Sarah. After 26 years, Alan (Williams) reunites with Sarah (Hunt) and together, with two unsuspecting children tries to outwit Jumanji’s dangerous riddles. This is an unusual adventure that, with the roll of the dice, combines breathtaking special effects with an engaging blend of comedy, magic and thrills!

LaserDisc Picture:
The matted 1.75:1 picture has slight color fidelity inaccuracies and is a bit subdued and dark in overall character. Fleshtones are natural and shadow detail is excellent. Slight noise permeates throughout but there are no artifacts in this THX®-approved Sony HD transfer.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
Effective sound effects and an expansive music score provide aggressive surround envelopment. Bass extension is extremely deep and powerful, and a real stress test for any system. Dialogue is natural and spatial. This is one soundtrack that doesn’t disappoint.
