Goldman, a Directing Animator, who left Disney with Bluth to start their own company in Bluthís garage in 1979, worked with Bluth on their first major independent film, The Secret of Nimh. In late 1982, Bluth and Goldman met with Rick Dyer and began work on the now classic DragonÌs Lair (1983) and followed it up with Space Ace (Nov 1983) and DragonÌs Lair II: Time Warp (1989). Bluth and Goldman collaborated with Steven Spielberg on An American Tail (1986) and The Land Before Time (1988) which opened to a record-breaking weekend gross of $7.5 million. After the Spielberg relationship, Bluth and Goldman went on to produce and direct All Dogs Go To Heaven (1989), Rock-A-Doodle (1990), A Troll in Central Park (1992), Thumbelina (1993) and most recently, 20th Century FoxÌs first animated film, Anastasia (1997).
