Two advanced new PTV models from Runco International, the world pace-setter for top-performing projection-video, will serve to redefine the notion of ""high-value/high-end"" among the serious home theatre systems. The new DTV-930 and DTV-933 designs, which are substantially similar in their underlying display systems, establish a new benchmark for cost-effective high-definition imaging that is in both cases substantially less costly than any equivalent models ó including their predecessor from Runco.""Runcoís primary focus has always been directed toward leading the way in high-end video performance,"" says Kevin Miller, Runco marketing director. ""Our reputation for defining state-of-the-art technology performance is well established, and we intend to maintain it."" Miller continues, ""But at the same time itís every bit as important ómaybe even more so ó for Runco to serve our customers with the very best performance per dollar we can invent, even in our relatively up-scale market. These two new projectors are great examples of this dedication, delivering stunning image quality at a substantially lower price point that the same relative level of performance would have required just a couple of years back.""Each new model features an identical trio of high-performance, liquid-cooled 8-inch CRTs ó the same tubes found in the companyís acclaimed 980-series projectors. They similarly share an extremely accurate electromagnetic focus system that combines with a very high-resolution hybrid lens system utilizing color-corrected multi-layer optics. The result is an extremely accurate high-resolution high light output display device capable of displaying near-cinematic imaging with video and optical resolutions 1000 and 1200 ""TV lines"" respectively. Both the DTV-930 and DTV-933 feature wide-bandwidth electronics capable of meeting the demands of the Digital Television age. Their 80 MHz chassis bandwidth extends full-performance horizontal-scan range to 65 kHz, delivering RGB resolution potential of 1600 x 1200 pixels. Additionally, the new modelsí unusually broad vertical-scan range (38-160 Hz) helps to extend their compatibility to virtually all current or contemplated video and HD formats, with unrestricted VGA and XGA tracking capabilities for data-display.Thanks to this impressively wide-band design the DTV-930 is compatible with Runcoís advanced, pixel-based digital video processors, and thus stands ready to deliver improved-definition displays of current-standard images or multiple DTV formats. Of course, the DTV-930 is equally compatible with conventional line-doubling and line-quadrupling components, such as Runcoís own SC-3050 and SC-4050.For its part, the Runco DTV-933 is the first projection system to incorporate built-in digital video-scaling processing that is able to output 1024 x 768 images, the equivalent to line-tripling. This is achieved by Runco-developed, pixel-level digital video ""scaling,"" a process that delivers significant advantages over conventional line-multipliers. Unlike conventional multipliers, this proprietary Runco technology preserves the maximum possible resolution and image-integrity in all three video ""dimensions"": vertical, horizontal, and temporal (frame-to-frame motion/time axis). The scalerís progressive-scan image produces in excess of 1200 lines per NTSC frame, yielding impressively cohesive, cinematic result with accurately maintained color. The result is dramatically enhanced display of current-standards sources such as DVDs and Laserdiscs, and full compatibility with all HDTV broadcast display formats. Each of these new Runco projectors can instantly access 10 different image formats, recalled via their supplied remote controllers. Among these are conventional 4:3 video imaging, and all popular ""widescreen"" formats including 1.78:1, (16:9), and 1.85:1 anamorphic display. This flexibility permits each of the new models to present virtually any film or video recording, or broadcast or cable program, while exploiting its full PAL, ""native"" resolution and thus delivering the best possible image. And both models may be ordered in versions compatible with world-standard video systems, including all NTSC and SECAM variants. The DTV-930 and DTV-933 supply flexible input/output options, accepting RGB-H/V signals via a quintet of pro-standard BNC connectors and S-Video via a standard mini-DIN input. The DTV-933ís fully independent digital-scaler can take its input from either a composite-video (BNC) input, or via the S-Video signal. Both new models incorporate user-selectable color-balance with settings ranging from 3200K to 9500K and including the industry-standard 6500K for cinematic-caliber imaging. Runcoís unique ""Digital-Wave"" convergence system is also a key feature of both models. One hundred on-board memories permit setups to be automatically associated with display modes, signal-inputs, or user preferences, while the DTV-930/933ís Copy Function can perform instant duplication of setups from one position to another for multiple variations.Despite their impressive performance and considerable technology, Runcoís DTV-930 and DTV-933 projectors are compact, quiet, and ""livable."" Their compact, 24 x 30-inch footprints (approximate) and height or barely one foot combine for an unexpectedly small package (Runco includes ceiling-mount hardware with both models), and their 45 dB noise ratings ensure that projector noise will never interfere with home-theatre sound nuances and or detail. The DTV-930 and DTV-933 are each supplied with two remote controllers, as full-function handset of setup/calibration, and a simplified, ergonomic one for everyday use.Runco manufactures the DTV-930 and DTV-933 entirely in the United States, employing professional-grade components throughout.Available now.
