HDTV-Ready Digital Light Processing Project Next-Generation DLP Technology Yields Dramatic Performance Gains

An advanced new video projector from Runco International showcases the latest enhancement of Texas Instrumentsí Digital Light Processor technology to yield important gains in video resolution and flexibility. Runco, a U.S. firm that is the accepted leader in high-definition video systems, defines its new DLP-3VX as the first DLP-based projector to incorporate the increased performance of 1024 x 768-pixel resolution in a ""three-chip"" system, making it the first legitimately HDTV-ready DLP projector. Company president and founder, Sam Runco, sees this new front-projection system as an important development in bringing high-definition video to serious home-theatre enthusiasts. ""The new DLP-3VX is an ideal utilization of the exciting new Digital Light Processor technology,"" says Runco. ""It produces stunningly bright, crisp, chromatically correct and wonderfully defined images in an amazing range of picture sizes - from five to 40-foot diagonal. And it does so from an incredibly small, domesticated unit, making it a very high-impact delivery system for the stunning quality of HD video."" The Digital Light Processor technology invented by Texas Instruments employs million of near-microscopic, electronically controlled micro-mirrors to process light, resulting in greatly superior detail and light-transmission efficiency relative to LCD systems. The new Runco projector is the first to utilize a three-chip DLP layout with each producing a 1024 x 768-pixel image - two-thirds higher in resolution than previous-generation DLP devices. The result is a bright, ""fast,"" legitimately high-def image. And in another DLP first, the new DLP-3VXís stunning video quality can reproduce the multiple aspect ratios demanded by serious home theatre systems. The DLP-3VX accepts video input in composite, S-Video, and component formats for NTSC signals, and via industry-standard RGB connections for higher-definition sources or processors such as Runcoís own video scalers, ""line-doublers,"" and high-definition and intermediate-definition digital television receivers or ""set-top boxes."" Flexible horizontal-scale capability (15-100 kHz) and exceptionally high video bandwidth (80 MHz) ensure unrestricted quality with even the most demanding of these sources, and with forthcoming generations of recorded video entertainment. A powerful 500-watt xenon lamp enables the new Runco DLP projector to produce an impressive light output of some 3,000 lumens (ANSI), and careful design yields the film-standard 6500 Kelvin color-temperature required for accurately cinematic images. No fewer than ten different lens options provide unexcelled installation flexibility, including selections suitable for short-throw/rear-projection setups and a range permitting offset installations for ceiling or floor-mount locations. Despite its impressive performance and flexible features including full remote control, the Runco DLP projector inhabits a remarkably compact package. Measuring just 2 x 1 x 2-1/2 feet (approximately) and weighing a manageable 76 lbs., the DLP-3VX is impressively livable for a wide range of rooms and lifestyles. The Runco DLP-3VX DLP Projector is manufactured entirely by Runco in the U.S., employing professional-grade components throughout. An export, PAL/SECAM version set to 240v/50/50 Hz line current is also available. Available now. Manufacturerís suggested retail price is $64,995 without lens. Lens pricing is available upon request.
