Panasonic Introduces The First DVD Audio/Video Player, The DVD-A7

Under the Panasonic brand, Matsushita has introduced the first DVD Audio/Video player, the DVD-A7. DVD Audio reproduction requires processing an enormous amount of data, 1,100 times that of a CD. To accomplish this feat, Matsushita originated a new D/A converter based on the MASH 1-bit DAC technology co-developed with NT for CD players. This new high performance DAC is DVD Audio standard compliant for full spec (192kHz/24-bit) DVD Audio reproduction in the DVD-A7. A special feature of the DVD-A7 is its Audio-only position, designed to maximize the pure hi-fi sound of DVD Audio by helping to block electronic noise from the video circuitry. The major features of the Panasonic DVD-A7 are: - Newly developed multibit D/A conversion system - Virtual batter operation reduces noise from the power supply circuit - Audio-only position for maximizing the pure hi-fi sound - 10-bit video D/A converter for high quality picture - Digital noise reduction - Built-in DTS and Dolby Digital decoder - Cinema Voice Mode - Advanced Virtual Surround Sound - Universal joystick remote - Cinema Mode optimizes playback for true to film picture quality when viewing movies - Optional coaxial digital output The DVD-A7 is priced at $999.95.
