Runco Debuts Stunning New DLP Video Projector New Model Brings HD-Capable Performance to Compact Design

Video technology leader Runco International has introduced a newly refined projection system based on the unique one-chip Digital Light Processor (DLP) technology from Texas Instruments. The new VX1 offers stunning, high-definition-capable imaging from about the same size package as most typical, ""lo-res"" LCD projectors - about the size of an overnight bag - and weighing just 17 pounds. And yet the VX1 DLP design displays all current and forthcoming video formats, including conventional TV (NTSC) and DTV (digital television) formats, with impressive accuracy and eye-opening detail, reduced ""color-flicker,"" and unprecedented brightness. ""The VX1 is an important step for Runco, DLP technology offers incredible home theatre imaging,"" says General Manager, Rick Bergamaschi. ""With the VX1 we've achieved genuine high-definition performance from an affordable, compact DLP design."" Of key importance to the home-theatre enthusiast, the VX1 utilizes a dual-aspect-ratio technology that produces full-resolution, geometrically correct images from both conventional TV (4:3/1.33:1) and ""anamorphic"" (16:9/1.78:1) sources, whether it is displaying standard definition TV or DTV signals in 1080i, 720p or 480p formats - all of which it is able to reproduce with exceptional accuracy. The new Runco projector, with a native resolution of 1024x768, also displays computer output up to an amazingly sharp 1280x1024 pixels. Just as vital, the VX1 features a powerful new, 270-watt metal-halide lamp system that produces a stunning 1000 ANSI lumens, specifically engineered to enable genuine large screen, home-theater quality to thrive in environments where more light output is demanded. Versatile enough to integrate into virtually any home theater environment, the VX1 can produce enormous range of picture sizes: from 24 to 300 inches (diagonal), from a ""throw"" distance of four to 40 feet. Manual zoom and focus adjustments, along with the elimination of painstaking convergence, make set up and picture maintenance on the VX1 fast and easy. The VX1 DLP projector includes a simple and intuitive remote control, and displays self-prompting, user-friendly on-screen control menus. There's also a serial-data interface (RS232) for simple, one-cable hookup to integrate the VX1 with sophisticated home-theater or multi-room system-controllers. The VX1's video inputs include composite (RCA-jack), S-video, PC-standard RGB, and component-video formats, making the DLP projector ready for any source, including DVD decks and DTV ""set-top"" tuners. Export-model variants for PAL, SECAM, or NTSC/4.43, and 240v/50 Hz power, are available by special order. Founded in 1987 and currently headquartered in Hayward, California, Runco International is a market leader in state-of-the-art front- and rear-projection televisions, flat-panel plasma TVs, video processors, and source components for the consumer market. Runco's innovations have won numerous awards and citations from the world press. Runco was the first video company to introduce a multiple-aspect-ratio controller, the ARC-IV, to the home theater market and also the first to introduce and market a line doubler with a multi-frequency projector, in 1990 The VX1 DLP is available now at the manufacturer's suggested retail price: $14,995.
