Vantas Addresses Consumer Confusion Over Digital

Elliot Rubin, Director of Marketing for Vantas, says consumers are confused about new digital technologies. Rubin thinks this is partially because many of these consumers donít fully understand the new technology theyíve purchased. ""Frankly, as an industry weíve done a fairly lousy job of informing and educating consumers about the substantial sonic advantages of Dolby Digital or motivating them to take full advantage of it,"" he says. He adds, "" The average consumer gets home with their new DVD player and discovers that they donít have anywhere to plug the digital audio outputs into their existing ProLogic receiver or stereo components and no means of decoding the 5.1 channel surround sound information. When they call their dealer to ask about this theyíre usually told ëSorry, but your system is obsolete and will have to be replaced,í which is not what someone who has a substantial investment in their equipment wants to hear."" Rubinís company, Vantas (a division of global digital technology leader Microtek, the worldís second largest manufacturer of computer scanners), will be at this yearís CEDIA Expo, September 24-26, to show CEDIA installers its unique, award-winning solutions to this upgrade problem. As Rubin explains: ""Before we introduced our products earlier this year there wasnít an intelligent upgrade path to Dolby Digital available to millions of ProLogic and stereo customers because their existing equipment n early always lacked the necessary inputs to connect an add-on processor. Our DPA Series Digital Processor/Amplifiers are the worldís only devices which can upgrade any existing stereo or multichannel platform to the full advantages of Dolby Digital.""
