Pioneer Plasma Display Panels

Continuing its commitment to provide the highest quality plasma displays in the industry, Pioneer Electronics introduces the PDP-505HD for the consumer market. This 50-inch, 16:9 (1.78:1) HDTV-ready plasma display, is only 3.86 inches thick and weighs only 94 pounds. The new display boasts improved picture quality, lower power consumption, innovative construction, and improved styling. Pioneerís second generation plasma display exhibits dramatically improved picture clarity and brightness. Through new construction techniques, the PDP-505HD allows for increased contrast ratio and to improved brightness. A unique encased cell structure creates brighter pictures by increasing phosphor surface area and eliminating light leakage from neighboring cells. Even the top and bottom walls are coated with phosphor for brighter illumination. This new construction technique provides improved clarity in the vertical direction and enhanced brightness. To reduce the amount of external light reflected off the screenís surface, Pioneer applied a new black stripe coating to the PDP-505HDís non-luminous front panel. This effectively triples the on-screen image contrast. The PDP-505HD achieves brilliant whites with the help of an advanced blue phosphor. This new phosphor development enhances light output and allows the PDP-505HD to create a well balanced, brighter picture. Pioneer has revamped their exclusive Automatic Format converter for the PDP-505HD. This newly enhanced circuit uses progressive conversion to boost the NTSC picture quality from sources such as DVD, LaserDisc, and Satellite an impressive eight times. To accomplish this, it first doubles the interlaced signal to a VGA level (640x480). It then doubles the information content both vertically and horizontally, resulting in an amazing increase in original signal density. Combined with the High-Definition resolution of the panel, this technology ensures an exceptionally smooth and stunning picture. Another new feature of the Pioneer AFC circuit is a technology called PureCinema. PureCinema detects an NTSC 3/2 film-based source, then recreates each individual still film frame. This method accurately reproduces images close to the original source quality with stunning clarity. The PDP-505HD also is the first consumer video product which converts an incoming 1080 interlaced source to 1080 progressive. The signal is then scaled to a native display resolution of 1280x768 progressive. This video conversion process provides the display with a higher resolution source resulting in remarkable image quality. Pioneer Electronicsí new PDP-505HD is a dramatic example of the companyís recently announced ""Vision 2005,"" declaring the intention of leadership in the display category. The PDP-505HD is available now at a suggested retail price of $20,000. For more information, contact Chris Walker at 310 952 2401.
