Aimed specifically at the home theatre market, Seleco introduced the world's least expensive 3-chip DLP projector at the CEDIA Expo, September 24-26. Dubbed the SDV 1300, it uses three 848 x 600 DLP chips to produce an image that claims to have 1300 ANSI lumens from a 500-watt Xenon arc lamp. Specified at over 2000 lamp life hours, the SDV 1300 is compatible with every computer from VGA to SXGA but scales everything to the native resolution of the SVGA (848 x 600) DLP chips. Features include a 1.5-3.0:1 zoom lens (Editor's Note: congratulations to Seleco in recognizing the huge potential in replacing thousands of CRT projectors in homes with a super-bright DL, but requiring a 1.5:1 throw lens), electronic and mechanical lens shift, user customizable color temperature settings, and compatibility with every video standard from NTSC to 1080i HDTV.List price on the SDV 1300 is about $30,000 and it will ship starting in November.
