DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group (DEG) kicked off its 11th year as the industry’s leading association charged with bringing together content providers and hardware manufacturers to partner in home entertainment activities. The group has continually evolved to address new trends and emerging technologies. Currently, the DEG is focused on embracing high definition – including HDTV and HD packaged media – as well as exploring the opportunities for digital delivery.
DEG Elects New President and Reinstates Role of Chairman
The DEG Board elected Stephen Einhorn its new President. Einhorn, the DEG’s fifth president, is a Founding Board member of the DEG and has been a member of the Executive Committee for five years. Furthermore, although the DEG Board retired the role of Chairman following the death of Emiel Petrone in 2004, the Board has reinstated the seat on the Executive Committee. The Board has elected Bob Chapek its second Chairman in the association’s history. Also a member of the Executive Committee for the past five years, Chapek had previously served as President.
“We are delighted with the election of Steve Einhorn as President, who is a respected leader and highly regarded throughout the industry. As a Founding Board member of the DEG, Steve has been instrumental in guiding the organization,” said Amy Jo Smith, Executive Director, DEG. “During Bob's tenure as president, he has led the association to unprecedented heights. Bob’s election as Chairman provides the DEG with a strong voice to complement Steve. Together they will help to take the DEG even further.”
DEG Elects New Board of Directors and Executive Committee
The voting member companies of the DEG also elected a new Board of Directors to serve for the coming fiscal year (August 1 – July 31). The Board then voted to elect the five member Executive Committee comprised of Chairman, President, Vice President, Secretary and Chief Financial Officer. These Officers are responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the DEG’s agenda, budget and Executive Staff.
The three remaining Officers are as follows: Ron Sanders was elected Vice President; Gene Kelsey was elected Secretary; and Craig Kornblau was re-elected Chief Financial Officer.
