Toshiba Introduces Its First Flat-Panel Plasma TV At CES ë99

Toshiba had introduced its first-ever Plasma TV display panel, the 42-inch widescreen Model PD-42WI. Utilizing todayís most advanced flat-panel plasma technology, the PD-42WI produces images of stunning clarity (550:1 contrast) and unsurpassed color purity in a display that measures just 3.5-inches deep. Equipped with video composite inputs and outputs, as well as S-Video and RGB inputs, the PD-42WI is designed for use as either the centerpiece of a home entertainment system or for direct connection to a PC or Web TV browser. Toshibaís PD-42WI is compatible with NTSC, PAL and SECAM formats, and offers users the ultimate flexibility in display options. Its ultra-thin depth makes it ideal for either hanging on the wall or placement in areas where conventional television sets would not fit. Additionally, because the PD-42WI is impervious to magnetic fields, it can be placed in close proximity to loudspeakers or other electronics components in a home theatre system. Dimensions of the PD-42WI are 40"" x 24.9"" x 3.5"" (WxHxD), and the set weighs just 72.8 lbs. The PD-42WI will be available in the second quarter of 1999, at a suggested retail price of $13,995.00
