CEDIAís Inaugural Management Conference To Help Business Leaders Manage Continue Growth

The Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) will welcome 125 custom installation business owners to its Inaugural Management Conference November 4-6 in Scottsdale, Arizona. This conference is designed to address the need for growth-management training created by the steady increase in business throughout the custom installation industry. CEDIA executives explored management level training in an effort to expand upon industry education and to meet the challenges businesses face in a growing industry. The positive response to a member survey regarding interest in such a program led CEDIAís Immediate Past President Mitchell Klein and co-chairs Mark Ormiston and Keith Rich to create the conference. The two-day conference will include two keynote addresses and three intensive workshops. The program will be structured to provide CEOs/Principles with the knowledge and tools needed to maximize their companiesí growth. The conference will offer executive level training and is intended to become an annual forum where owners and operators can collaborate to better their businesses and the industry. CEDIA has enlisted experts from the financial, human resources and management fields to educate conference attendees. Howard Putnam, former CEO of Southwest Airlines, will present ""Creating the Vision and the Team."" He will outline management strategies for high team productivity based on positive impact on the bottom line. Best-selling author Jack Canfield will speak on ""Chicken Soup for the Custom Installation Professionalís Soul"" to familiarize attendees with ways to combine compassionate and nurturing behavior with specific business goals. Mitchell Klein, CEDIAís Immediate Past President, explained that the primary goal of the conference is to provide attendees with the tools necessary to accommodate the industryís 20-25% growth. ""One of our primary goals as an association is to remain a step ahead where member needs are concerned,"" said Billilynne Keller, CEDIAís Executive Director. ""This conference is an example of CEDIAís commitment to forward thinking and out-of-the-box ideas. We have long had the most extensive education program from a technical standpoint. Incredible growth within the industry has now mandated a need to take our education program to the management level as well."" CEDIA was founded in 1989 and represents more than 1,600 member companies that specialize in designing and installing electronic systems - typically media rooms, single- or multi-room entertainment systems, home automation and communication systems, and integrated whole house subsystems providing control of lighting, security and HVAC systems.
