Unity Motion Completes Initial Shipments Of High Definition Distribution System To Retailers

Leading audio/video specialty retailers and custom installers that attended the 1999 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) received initial shipments of Unity Motion's High Definition Distribution System and are using it to demonstrate HDTV broadcasting to consumers nationwide. Unity Motion's breakthrough Distribution System is comprised of the HDR-1000 Set-top Receiver Box with satellite dish, which receive both progressive and interlaced HDTV programming in all ATSC formats from the company's direct broadcast satellite HDTV service. The IRD also decodes all HDTV broadcasts from local stations when connected to a separate terrestrial antenna. In-store reaction to the Unity Motion solution from dealers and consumers is universally positive. ""We are thrilled with consumer response to the Unity Motion system,"" said Pete Camacho, Home Theatre Manager of Dave's Video in Los Angeles. ""The picture quality has attracted customers who are seeing HDTV for the first time, and they walk out with a whole new perspective on what lies ahead. We have taken initial orders for the IRDs and look forward to representing Unity Motion's offerings."" ""The Unity Motion system and DBS service gives us HDTV today,"" said Teny Shimek of Shimek's Audio Video, Anchorage, Alaska, a market where terrestrial HDTV broadcasting is not mandated until May of 2002. ""We have accepted initial orders for the Unity Motion system. Its signal is very stable here, and this helps our customers see first hand that alternate delivery systems exist to justify a forward-looking investment in an HDTV-equipped home theatre."" According to Jon T. Duncan, CEO of custom installer RNX International in Palm Springs, California: ""Over a dozen RNX clients have already ordered Unity Motion-based HDTV systems for their home theatres and audio/video media rooms, and interest remains high. We feel privileged to be one of the audio/video installers across America selected to exhibit this new solution."" Having accepted initial orders, dealers will soon receive volume shipments for sale to their customers. ""We are delighted to be receiving such favorable responses from dealers and consumers to our HDTV solution,"" said Unity Motion Vice President of Sales and Marketing Sean Henry. ""We look forward to satisfying the growing demand for our unique product line."" The HDR-1000 IRD features a 1080i output and is compatible with all HDTV display devices employing RGBHV, VGA or YPbPr inputs. The companion 18-inch diameter satellite dish fits unobtrusively on any rooftop or in any yard and contains a single LNB that can be split to feed multiple IRD boxes.
