Encoding.com Reincarrating As Loudeye Technologies

As a creator of digital media solutions that unleash the power of audio and video on the Internet, encoding.com is changing its name to Loudeye Technologies, Inc. The new name reflects the company's influence in advancing streaming media on the Internet, much beyond its well-known optimized encoding process. Loudeye was chosen to evoke the idea of a better audio and video experience on every Web page, and the company's commitment to advancing Internet media through complete solutions. ``As we grew the company's infrastructure from encoding to include offerings such as distribution management, consulting, and software applications, the name encoding.com needed to grow with our expanding mission. encoding.com is the heart and soul of the company, but our customers have been asking for more. Our new name is a continuation of our quest to capture, manage and distribute digital media smarter, faster and better then ever imagined,'' said Martin Tobias, Founder and CEO, and Minister of Order and Reason. ``Loudeye encompasses our commitment to provide Web users with a totally new experience of audio and video on every web page - and it says it with a style that captures our internal culture and the creative spirit.'' The name change also encapsulates the recent announcements made by the company that reflect an aggressive vision and expansion to become a leading Internet media infrastructure company. Starting with a strategic investment round closing of $48 million with support from companies like America Online, CBS, Intel, Microsoft and NBC, and announcing a partnership with Valley Media that will streamline the Internet audio business by providing the most comprehensive online music catalog. And in early December, encoding.com announced the launch of its Consulting Services Group (CSG) to offer professional services that help companies get the maximum value of streaming and digital media assets through digital media services and vertical application development. In addition, last week encoding.com closed the acquisition of Alive.com to advance digital media on the Internet by providing applications that make digital media accessible to all Internet users.
