Friday chat session focuses on intersection of design and technology

August 29, 2019

As the industry leader in connecting technology and the design community, CEDIA Expo is excited to announce Tech Collider – a new show floor activation taking place on Friday, Sept. 13 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. within the Design+Connection Pavilion (Booth #1960).

The informal, lounge-style speaker series aims to educate designers, architects, integrators, and technologists on ways to navigate a successful and impactful relationship, and is made up of three separate presentations.

Healthy Home Automation – presented by Designer Barbara Barton, a Certified Living in Place Professional, and architect Doug Walter (AIA) from 1:00-2:00 p.m. – will focus on the pair’s experience working together to design and build today’s healthy home.

Running the gamut from ground breaking to key turning, Healthy Home Automation will cover aspects of a home and how they affect someone psychologically, mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Following up Barbara and Doug’s presentation will be CE Pro’s Jason Knott and KBB’s Erinn Loucks with Building Business between Designers and Integrators from 2:00-3:00 p.mJoining Jason and Erinn for this panel discussion are designer Dawn Deluca and integrator Shalom Illouz.

The foursome will talk through how designers and integrators can come together, build a working relationship, and deliver exceptional results to their clients. Topics of discussion include how to speak each other’s “language”, what products make sense for both parties, and how to handle the sales process (read: money!).

Closing out the Tech Collider from 3:00-4:00 p.m. will be Seura with Experts Share All: The Perfect Harmony of Technology & Residential Design. In this program the luxury product manufacturer will give truth to its mission by facilitating a harmonious conversation on residential design’s relationship with technology.

Led by Seura Co-founder and CEO Gretchen Gilbertson, this no-holds barred conversation will see a panel of four designers from across the country talk through successes and standstills with technology.

“CEDIA Expo is proud to be at the forefront of the design and technology collaboration conversation,” said Brian Pagel, executive vice president of Emerald Expositions. “Tech Collider at the Design+Connection Pavilion is yet another activation on our robust show schedule at CEDIA Expo that focuses on building a stronger relationship between these two industries.”

Tech Collider will emanate from the Design+Connection Pavilion (Booth #1960) on Friday, Sept. 13 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. For more information on Tech Collider, please visit CEDIAexpo.com.
