Channel Master Introduces Sleek Outdoor Antenna For Receiving Digital, Analog TV And FM Radio Broadcasts

Channel Master, a developer and maker of home TV antennas, has introduced its first outdoor antenna specially designed for receiving local broadcasts of digital TV, analog TV, and FM radio signals. The new ""StealthTennaô,"" named for its sleek, low-profile appearance, is said to provide excellent VHF, UHF, and FM reception from metropolitan to suburban areas and can serve as an off-air companion antenna to a digital satellite receiving system, such as DirecTV, PrimeStar, or Dish Network. StealthTenna is sold fully assembled for do-it-yourself or professional installation. For use in areas with difficult reception, an optional amplifier is available. The suggested retail price of the StealthTenna is under $60. ""This antenna will deliver perfect reception of local digital TV signals as well as conventional analog TV and radio broadcasts in its stated reception range,"" said Duffy Paul, Director of Broadcast Reception Products. ""With the changes taking place in local broadcasting and satellite TV, we expect renewed consumer need for quality outdoor antennas. The StealthTenna will satisfy this market."" According to the company, the StealthTenna is optimized for digital and analog signal reception, bi-directional reception VHF/FM and directional reception for UHF. Mast and coaxial cable are sold separately. For additional signal gain, StealthTenna can be equipped with an amplifier that fits inside the antenna housing. The amplifier, which utilizes separate circuitry for VHF and UHF signals, provides a gain of 15dB. The StealthTenna has a span of 55-inches and its housing measures 15-inchs from front to rear. The StealthTenna meets the specifications set forth by the Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Association (CEMA) Mapping Program for the large multi-directional antenna category. CEMA has created a detailed map of every metropolitan area that shows, block by block, the type of antenna needed. Using the CEMA coding system, the StealthTenna is recommended for the areas designated yellow, green and light green. Most retailers will have copies of maps available for consumer use. The StealthTenna will be available at retail nationally in March 1999.
