Palm Pictures Join Forces With Denon To Market DVDs

Palm Pictures marks its entry into the DVD market with the release of six new titles, encompassing film, music and Japanese animation, on February 28, 2000, including live music DVDs ""Talking Heads Stop Making Sense"" and ""Baaba Maal: Live at the Royal Festival Hall,"" DVD singles ""Sly and Robbie Superthruster"" and ""Mocean Worker: Detonator/Diagnosis,"" and DVD feature films ""Dancehall Queen"" and ""Ghost in the Shell."" All titles feature a full DVD program utilizing cutting edge-technology. As well as the main title, Palm Pictures DVDs contain motion menus, interviews and additional video material. Interactive DVD-ROM offers full multimedia content including Palm Pictures video, audio, photography and animation. To help launch these new titles, Palm Pictures, with the help of marketing agency Solutions by Design, joined forces with electronics manufacturer Denon, for a series of joint promotional activities. ""We are always great believers in tying together the hardware and software industries. Palm Pictures software titles are great entertainment plus they ably demonstrate the features of our machines. We have used their music and film titles at all levels, and look forward to continuing to work with them through 2000,"" said Roger Batchelor, Product Manager of Denon. To date, this joint activity has encompassed presentations to media, competitions for consumers, and demonstrations of Palm Pictures titles to Denon dealers, at trade fairs in the UK and to consumers at a retail level. With sales of DVD players in the UK for 1999 hitting 250,000 and software sales hitting 4 million for the same period, DVD is clearly the forerunner in digital entertainment. Both Denon and Palm Pictures are now looking to further the relationship by examining joint marketing opportunities for 2000.
