The Vision Fund of America announced that Dr. Teruaki Aoki, President and Chief Operating Officer of Sony Electronics Inc. and a Corporate Senior Vice President of Sony Corporation, and Warren N. Lieberfarb, President of Warner Home Video, will be honored at the Vision Fund of America Awards Dinner on June 8, 2000 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City. ""The stature of these two industry leaders illustrates the importance of the Vision Fund and its activities to executives throughout the visual production and entertainment industries,"" said Vision Fund President Kenneth F. Wiedeman. ""The annual awards dinner serves as the focal point for the year-round fundraising activities of the Vision Fund of America on behalf of Lighthouse International. To date, the Vision Fund of America has donated more than $2 million to educational activities for people who are vision impaired."" The Vision Fund of America is an organization comprised of professionals in the communications, entertainment and information technology industries. Since 1983, in partnership with Lighthouse International, the Vision Fund has supported programs that encourage people with impaired vision to be independent at home, at school or in the workplace. The Vision Fund seeks to increase independent living for people with impaired vision, to expand opportunities for people with partial sight, to present educational messages through the media, to build industry participation in Vision Fund activities, and to foster research and development of new technologies that enhance vision.About Dr. AokiAs Sony Electronics' President and Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Teruaki (Teri) Aoki has a 30-year career at Sony spanning a wide array of positions both in the United States and Japan. Prior to his current position, Dr. Aoki was President of Sony Corporation's Computer Peripherals & Components Company where he oversaw Sony's development and sales of various component products such as disc drives, optical pickup and data storage drives. While under his leadership, the Computer Peripherals & Components Company achieved a significant improvement in profitability, quality and efficiency. Dr. Aoki has also served as Executive Vice President of Sony Corporation's Consumer A&V Products Company and was instrumental in Sony's global entry into the DVD market as the executive in charge of Sony's DVD Promotion Center and format standardization efforts. Sony Electronics is currently the U.S. market leader in selling DVD-Video players. Dr. Aoki also currently serves as a Corporate Senior Vice President of Sony Corporation.About Warren LieberfarbLieberfarb has served as President of Warner Home Video (WHV) since 1984. Under his leadership, WHV expanded its global presence to include 78 international territories, while increasing total revenue seven-fold. For nearly a decade, Lieberfarb's efforts as the architect of the DVD (Digital Video Disc) format let to a single DVD standard being accepted by the consumer electronics, computer and entertainment industries. Lieberfarb began his career at the Ford Motor Company as a financial analyst. Subsequently he held posts at Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox, where, as Vice President of Telecommunications, he was instrumental in the early initiatives that led to the growth of cable, pay-TV and home video. He received a BS in Economics from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
