Panavision/Sony HDW-F900 Revealed

Panavision, Sony and Lucasfilm unveiled publicly the HDW-F900 ""George Lucas HD camera"" on February 4, 2000 at the 34th SMPTE Advanced Motion Imaging Conference in San Francisco, California. The prototype has a lowñmode Steadicam and standard HD mount, removable slide iris rod bracket, Panavision modular follow focus bracket, HDCAM plate, Panavision Primo digital zoom mount, new faceplate and a base plate interface to a Panavision standard dovetail. The camera is supported by an HD system ""panahub"" that includes a Studio VTR HDWF-500, LD monitor, HD monitor, RMB-150 camera remote control, optical disc recorder and serial adapter. Signal processing is digital at 12-bits color, 39 watts and has 200 ASA. The new digital HD camera was first announced at the 1999 NAB Convention. George Lucas is planning to film ""Star Wars: Episode II"" entirely in the digital domain.
