DTSÆ Sponsors 5.1-Channel Recording Education

DTSÆ To Be Major Sponsor Of Surround Recording Tour And Gand Music Festival

Showing its continuing support for music and recording education, DTS(r) has signed on as a major sponsor of the six city ""Surround For The Project Studio"" tour, and is sponsoring the appearance of noted record producer, Elliot Scheiner at the Gand Digital Audio Recording Expo in Chicago, Illinois. The ""Surround For The Project Studio"" event is a traveling show developed by longtime editor and recording engineer, Hector La Torre's Fits and Starts Productions to demonstrate and teach multichannel recording techniques and technology. Mike Sokol, also of Fits and Starts, is the presenter. The tour kicked off February 8, 2000 in Seattle, Washington and passes through San Francisco, Sacramento, Glendora, and North Hollywood, California before it concludes in Tempe, Arizona, February 18. Lorr Kramer, DTS's Director of Technical Special Projects, will be on hand at the San Francicso, Glendora, and North Hollywood events to demonstrate the new professional DTS encoder. The encoder, introduced several months ago, is now in the final Beta test stage. The Gand Digital Audio Recording Expo is an event named for and hosted by the respected Chicago-area musical instrument and recording equipment dealer. DTS is sponsoring the appearance of Elliot Scheiner, who will discuss digital recording techniques and technology. Mr. Scheiner has long been an advocate of multichannel recording. His most recent efforts in that arena have included Steely Dan, The Eagles, John Fogerty, Toy Matinee, and Fleetwood Mac - several of which have been released exclusively as DTS 5.1 music CDs. About DTS DTS was launched with the release of Universal Pictures' and Amblin Entertainment's Jurassic Park, and since then the company has remained a leader in feature film digital audio with more than 18,000 installations worldwide. DTS Consumer Products, Inc. (a subsidiary of DTS, Inc.) licenses its technology to hardware and software manufacturers to create Digital Surround(tm) products for the home and car that are changing the way consumers listen to music recordings and movie soundtracks on compact discs, LaserDiscs and DVD.
