Yamaha Introduces Three New Home Theatre

Yamaha Electronics Corporation has introduced three new 5-channel home theatre receivers, one, the RX-V995 provides Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround 5.1 channel decoding. The RX-V495, at a suggested retail of $399, is the least expensive model incorporating Dolby Digital ever offered by the company. The third model, RX-V395, is 5.1 channel ready and features Dolby ProLogic, Yamaha's Cinema DSP, and 7 other Digital Sound Field Processing music and movie theatre modes. RX-V995 - Yamaha's Flagship, 5-Channel Home Theatre Receiver Yamaha's new RX-V995 is the company's flagship 5-channel home theatre receiver. It provides Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround decoding, so that all DVDs and 5.1-channel encoded CDs on the market can be heard in their full and stunning detail. In addition, the new model incorporates Dolby ProLogic and Yamaha's Digital Sound Field Processing, Cinema DSP, and Tri-Field Cinema DSP for music and movies. The new receiver delivers 100 watts to each of its five channels, 25 percent more than the model it replaces. The RX-V995 provides a total of 25 different soundfields, six devoted to music and 15 for video programs. Yamaha uses an ASIC chip in the RX-V995. ASICs - Application Specific Integrated Circuits - are more efficient than conventional multi-task ICs. Yamaha says that since they are not required to serve several functions simultaneously, they run a given function more accurately and the chip itself runs cooler. The newly developed proprietary IC chip, the YSS-918, delivers Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround processing as well as Dolby ProLogic and Yamaha's Cinema DSP. It also provides Tri-Field Processing which applies Yamaha's Digital Sound Field Processing technology to Dolby Digital and DTS and is said to create a true movie theatre experience in the home by developing independent enhanced soundfields for the front signals as well as left surround and right surround. Yamaha's RX-V995 also provides greater input flexibility than the previous model. Four sources have digital input capability, and two of those have a choice of either optical or coaxial digital inputs. The new model has provision for three audio source components and up to five AV sources. All AV sources have an S-Video input. In addition, the receiver has 6-channel back-panel inputs, so it is ready for the DVD-Audio format and any other 5.1 channel audio format, should one be developed. The RX-V995 incorporates a high quality AM/FM stereo tuner with presets which will automatically select the 40 strongest signals in the user's area. In addition, those presets can be user modified. Other features of the new receiver include pre-outs for all five channels and the subwoofer, multi-room capability, 5-way binding posts, high/low impedance switching, linear damping factor circuitry, and on-screen display. Yamaha's new RX-V995 home theatre receiver features the company's new V-profile front panel, comes with Yamaha's macro-capable remote control with fluorescent keys, and has a suggested retail price of $999. RX-V495 - Yamaha's Lowest Priced Dolby Digital Home Theatre Receiver At a suggested retail price of$399, the RX-V495 is the lowest priced home theatre receiver incorporating Dolby Digital decoding ever offered by Yamaha. The new receiver delivers 60 watts to each of its five channels and provides 11 Digital Sound Field Processing movie theatre and music modes. The receiver can handle three audio and four AV sources and features video outputs as well as inputs. In addition to Dolby Digital, the RX-V495 provides 7-video and three music soundfields. A newly designed Yamaha ASIC, YSS-908, provides Dolby Digital, Dolby ProLogic, Tri-Field, and Cinema DSP processing. Yamaha has also incorporated the same tuner as in the RX-V995. The high quality AM/FM stereo tuner with presets will automatically select the 40 strongest signals in the user's area. In addition, those presets can be user modified. Other features of the RX-V495 include high/low impedance switching, speaker A/B switching, 3 audio and 4 A/V inputs, linear damping factor circuitry, sleep timer, three center channel modes, universal remote control keypad incorporating preset codes for popular brands of source components, and features Yamaha's new V-profile front panel. Yamaha's RX-V495 has a suggested retail of $399. RX-V395 - Yamaha Performance in an Entry Level Home Theatre Receiver The least expensive home theatre receiver in Yamaha's line of six models, the entry level RX-V395, at a suggested retail price of $299, provides Digital Sound Field Processing and movie and music modes in addition to Dolby ProLogic. The RX-V395 delivers 60 watts to each of its five channels. The new model also has 6-channel inputs for handling outboard Dolby Digital, DTS or other 5.1-channel systems including DVD-Audio. Similar to the RX-V495, the entry level model provides an AM/FM stereo tuner with presets which will automatically select the 40 strongest signals in the user's area. In addition, those presets can be user modified. Other features include: three audio and four AV inputs, high/low impedance switching, speaker A/B switching, 3 audio and 4 AN inputs, linear damping factor circuitry, sleep timer, three center channel modes, universal remote control keypad incorporating preset codes for popular brands of source components, and features Yamaha's new V-profile front panel.
