Yamaha Electronics Corporation has introduced the company's first DVD changer, the DVD-C900. The 5-disc model incorporates Yamaha's patented PlayXchange system, which allows four discs to be replaced while the fifth is playing, and provides a DTS bit stream output as well as Dolby Digital processing. The DVD-C900 can play DVD-Video discs, Video CDs, and standard CDs and provides features such as multi-speed playback and on-screen menu icon display for easy operation. It also includes familiar Yamaha features, such as Random Access Programmability and 3-Way Repeat Play. The technically advanced model utilizes a high quality l0-bit video digital-to-analog converter and a 96 H2/24-bit audio DAC. In addition to standard outputs, the DVD-C900 provides one optical digital and one coaxial digital output and S-Video and component video outputs. Major specifications include frequency response of 4Hz to 20kHz, plus or minus 3 dB for CD, DVD/Video CD; frequency range of 4Hz to 22kHz for DVD at 48kHz sampling; and 4Hz to 44kHz for DVD at 96 kHz sampling. The DVD-CS00's total harmonic distortion is a low 0.002%, and signal-to-noise is 115 dB, with dynamic range of 104dB for DVD 48kHz sampling/24 bit, and 100dB for CD ñ DVD/Video CD. Yamaha's DVD-C900 comes with a full-function remote control, features the company's V-profile front panel and has a suggested retail price of $999. The DVD-C9OO is also available in a gold-amber finish with walnut end-panels which cosmetically matches Yamaha's DSP-A1GL.
