Warner Challenged On DVD Codes

British supermarket chain Tesco has called on Time Warner and Warner Home Video to end the practice of putting region coding on DVDs, causing the discs to work only on players bought in the same part of the world. The practice, known as zoning, has resulted in substantial price differences for the same discs sold in different countries. In protest, Tesco has begun selling players that can play DVDs produced anywhere when properly programmed, allowing customers to circumvent existing price controls. Source: CreativePlanet.com
