Sony Electronics introduced eight new DVD-Video systems designed to maximize the home theatre experience for any lifestyle and budget. With more than 7 million new DVD buyers expected in 2000 and more than 5,000 software titles available, Sony is introducing its broadest range of DVD systems ever. All the new systems feature single- or multi-disc Sony DVD players, DolbyÆ Digital 5.1 channel surround sound processing, pre-programmed A/V remotes, and six-piece speaker packages. With silver components to complement Sony Wegaô TV designs, the DAV-L8000 includes a DVD/CD player, a Dolby ProLogic receiver with 5.1 channel inputs and digital tuner, micro satellite speakers and a separate subwoofer. The TV stand is wide enough to accommodate a 36-inch FD TrinitronÆ Wega TV. Available in June 2000, the DAV-L8000 is expected to sell for approximately $1000. For consumers considering traditional, high-powered (100 watts x 5) A/V rack systems, Sony is also introducing two models:- The R-7000 features a five-disc DVD/CD changer, receiver with built-in Dolby Digital and ProLogic decoding, and high-speed dubbing cassette deck housed in a 37-inch vertical rack. Additionally, the system has three-way 12-inch front speakers as well as surround speakers for optimal high-powered audio. Available in June 2000, the R-7000 is expected to sell for approximately $1000.- The R-6000 features a single-disc DVD/CD player, receiver with built-in Dolby Digital and Pro Logic decoding and 5.1 channel inputs for enhanced sound quality. The model includes front, center and surround speakers. Housed in a 35-inch vertical rack, the model will be available in June 2000 and is expected to sell for approximately $800.Mini-System Maximizes Performance For younger enthusiasts looking to enhance their entertainment experience, this sleek, new mini-system with built-in five-disc DVD/CD changer adds style to almost any environment.
