C.A.S. Awards Salute Excellence In Sound Mixing

The 36th Annual C.A.S. Awards Banquet honored outstanding achievements in sound mixing for movies and television. The ceremony took place March 4, 2000 at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City, California. The Winners For Feature Film: ""The Matrix,"" Re-recording Mixers John Reitz, Gregg Rudloff and David Campbell; Production Mixer David Lee. For Television Movie of the Week or Mini-Series: ""Joan of Arc"" (Part 1, Mini-Series), Re-recording Mixers Lou Solakofski and Orest Sushko; Production Mixer Urmas Rosin. For Television Series: ""The Sopranos - I Dream Of Jeannie Cusamano,"" Re-recording Mixers Adam Sawelson, Todd Orr and Ron Evans; Production Mixer Mathew Price, C.A.S. For Variety or Music Series or Specials: ""Ray Charles In Concert,"" Re-recording/Production Mixer Bob Wright. Buzz Knudson Honored Re-recording Mixer Buzz Knudson received the C.A.S. Career Achievement Award. He has been nominated for an Academy AwardÆ 11 times, and has won three of those times for ""Cabaret"" (1972), ""The Exorcist"" (1973) and ""E.T."" (1983). Knudson entered the motion picture industry in 1952 at RCA, after playing minor league baseball for eight years. He joined Todd-AO in 1960 and began mixing feature films in 1965, eventually becoming President of Todd-AO in 1982. He currently serves as Consultant and Vice-Chairman of the Todd-AO Corporation. Knudson was saluted by several respected individuals, including Actor/Director Warren Beatty and Todd-AO Corp. CEO Salah Hassanein.
