The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has appointed Bill Rose, Vice President of Electronic Engineering at the Leviton Manufacturing Company, Chair of CEA's Technology and Standards Council. CEA Board of Directors Chair Darrell Issa appointed Mr. Rose to the position following a January 2000 Board of Directors Executive Committee motion to approve his nomination.""Bill has been a very active contributor to CEA's standards setting work and we are pleased to have the continued benefit of his guidance,"" said Ralph Justus, CEA Vice President of Technology and Standards. ""The consumer electronics industry will continue to benefit from his unique understanding of how consumers relate to technology.""Rose has been active in CEA's Integrated Home Systems (IHS) Division activities and has been a member of CEA's Engineering Policy Council and Executive Committee since 1997. He has served on CEA's IHS Division Board of Directors and has been Chairman of the IHS Office of Technology and the Home Control Systems Committee. Bill will continue to serve as Chair of CEA's Home Networks Committee (R7).Rose has more than 20 years of experience in embedded microprocessor controls and applications ranging from developing video game systems, electronic toys and personal computers to aerospace where he worked on fly-by-wire control systems. He holds patents in data communications, motion detection sensors, toys and graphics systems. Rose has focused on the development of integrated home systems and home automation products and standards for the past eight years.Bill's other memberships and affiliations include serving on the LonMark Association Board of Directors and on several National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) committees.
