The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) promoted Jayne Dalton to Director, CES operations; Lisa Fasold to Director, Communications; Tim Herbert, Staff Director, Market Research and Kelly Ricker, Staff Director, Conferences. Jayne Dalton, Director, CES OperationsDalton previously had been Staff Director, CES operations at CEA. An 11-year tradeshow management veteran, Dalton is responsible for managing activities relating to the operational logistics of the International CES. Her responsibilities include managing contracts with facilities, vendors and hotels; overseeing registration; developing short- and long-term implementation plans and budgets; and supervising all pre-show logistics with exhibitors and vendors, as well as all on-site operations. Before joining CEA in April 1998, Dalton was an account executive for Marketing Resource Associates (MRA), where she was one of two people to staff a newly developed trade show management firm. Responsibilities included not only overall trade show management, but also the development of new policies, procedures and programs, including exhibitor retention, sponsorship and marketing campaigns, template development for exhibitor prospectus, timelines, budget development and exhibitor programs. Prior to MRA, Dalton worked for six years as an exposition manager for National Trade Productions Inc.Lisa Fasold, Director, CommunicationsFormerly Staff Director, Communications at CEA, Fasold leads the electronic, print and multimedia publication development and production for the association and the International CES, including oversight of all association Web sites, magazines, books, directories and newsletters. Fasold also continues to direct the public relations efforts for the International CES.Under her management of the 2000 International CES public relations campaign, media attendance at CES increased 15 percent from the previous year's show. Beyond her CES responsibilities, Fasold has handled the public relations for many of CEA's product divisions, departments and events during the past five years, including e-commerce, mobile electronics, digital audio radio, accessories, radio data system, engineering, market research and other industry issues. In her publishing work at CEA, she launched Consumer Electronics Vision, the association's industry magazine, and led the re-development of two books, US Consumer Electronics Industry Today and the soon-to-be-released Switched On. She also led the team that established the CEA Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame last year.Before joining CEA in 1995, Fasold was the editor of three international trade magazines, focused on the wireless communications industry, at Phillips Business Information Inc. in Potomac, Maryland. Fasold is a graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Foreign Service.Tim Herbert, Staff Director, Market ResearchHerbert leads the consumer market research for the association, including the development of more than 20 in-depth, annual consumer research reports across all categories of consumer electronics. While at CEA as Senior Market Analyst, Herbert has been instrumental in helping to build the Market Research Department's largest endeavor, eBrain, CEA's Web site for consumer technology research. Kelly Ricker, Staff Director, ConferencesAs Staff Director, Conferences for CEA, Ricker is responsible for the activities of the CEA and CES Conference Department, including the International CES keynote addresses and conference sessions, programs for CEA non-member communities and stand-alone industry conferences.Ricker joined CEA in December 1996 as Senior Coordinator, Industry Relations and within her first year was promoted to Manager, Industry Relations. As Manager, she doubled retailer participation in the CES VIP Buyer Program, produced several profitable issue-specific conferences and developed high-level programs for the association's CEO Summit. Ricker was also responsible for launching CEA's first standalone conference - Product Returns '98.Ricker began her event-planning career at a local corporate events firm before transitioning into exhibit sales and tradeshow promotion at the American Sportfishing Association.
