Spectra.Net Teams Up With InterTrust

Spectra.Net Communications, Inc., a downloadable media system developer, recently announced a joint partnership with InterTrust Technologies, Inc. to develop a multimedia digital rights management (DRM) system that integrates video, audio, hyperlinked text, graphics and still images into a single downloadable file. Such a system would be the most comprehensive DRM suite to date, the company said. Through the company's ThrottleBox Player, consumers can download multimedia content from Spectra.Net clients, including the National Golf Foundation, the National Golf Research Institute, Madison Square Garden, Telebrands/As Seen on TV, Dow Jones, Combe Incorporated, GT Bicycles, Professional Ski Instructors of America and Women's Fitness Federation. The player can be downloaded free at http://www.throttleboxsports.com. ""We are excited about working with the leading DRM platform,"" said Drew D. Saur, Vice President And Chief Technology Officer, Spectra.Net Communications. ""Our sports content partners now have the premier multimedia system that protects their interests and fulfills their needs."" InterTrust's DRM platform currently is in use in some 40 countries, said Talal Shamoon, Senior Vice President of Media for InterTrust. He said the platform is superior to other DRMs on the market because ""it gives the content owners and people in the value chain around the content owners a tremendous amount of control over how their content gets used and where it gets used."" InterTrust supporters in the music industry include Universal Music Group, DolbyÆ Labs, Fraunhofer Institute, Samsung SDS, MusicMatch, RioPort, Sony, Masushita, Mitsubishi and Cirrus Logic.
