TERK Technologies is announcing that their new TV41 and TV42 outdoor, amplified, clip-on antennas are now shipping to retailers. The antennas started appearing on shelves as of March 1st, the same date that satellite broadcasters began to lose their ability to broadcast network television. In order to watch free local broadcasts, viewers will now need to use an antenna, like the TV41 and TV42, or pay for cable.A Federal Court Ruling went into effect on Monday, March 1st, immediately terminating the broadcast of CBS and FOX by satellite systems. Effected by the first cutoff date were some 700,000 viewers, with 3 million household slated for cutoff by a tentative April 30th. ABC, NBC, and PBS are expected to follow CBS and Foxís lead by the April date. With around 10 million satellite subscribers in the U.S., the reception of local network programming will soon become a significant problem.""Over the past few years, satellite systems have enjoyed explosive growth,"" says Neil Terk, President and CEO. ""Now, with this new ruling millions of satellite viewers will be looking for another means of accessing local programming, and our clip-on antennas offer the ideal solution for those in cities and suburbs. They are both easy to install and provide the performance consumers expect. Weíve been very gratified with the marketís early and strong response to the antennas.""The TV41 and TV42 both attach to 18-inch dishes. Special TERK clips make installation a snap; just five minutes with no tools and everything needed for installation included in the package. They feature built-in diplexers, so neither requires extra wiring from the dish to the home. The only difference between the two lies in the TV41 is made for use with single LNB dishes while the TV42 is for use with dual LNBs. TERKís clip-on antennas incorporate highly tuned, efficient receiving elements that provide superior reception of local stations. They also feature built-in amplifiers that virtually eliminate signal loss - very common with long wire runs.Where attaching to the dish is not practical, TERK has an alternative solution: the TV50. While it also provides local broadcasts without the purchasing of cable, this longs, slim unit may be installed on the side of the house, on the roof, or even indoors. The TV41 (for single LNB dishes) and TV42 (for dual LNB dishes) retail for $59.95 and $79.95 respectively, while the TV50 retails for $129.95. All three may be found at most major consumer electronics stores, or by calling 616 543 1900 or logging onto www.terk.com.TERKís diverse range of products includes indoor and outdoor AM/FM and television antennas, patented in-car cellular antennas, wireless speakers, DSS accessories, multi-room products including audio/video distribution systems, and multi room controls.
