Lucasfilm Ltd and 20th Century Fox have come to terms with the nations theatre owners and have agreed to allow advance tickets to be sold for Star Wars: Episode I ñ The Phantom Menace. Initially, Lucasfilm and Fox had requested that advance tickets not be sold during the first two weeks of the filmís release for fear of scalping due to the enormous event status of the anticipated blockbuster. Many consider the new Star Wars film to be the most eagerly-awaited movie ever and has generated out-of-control media-hype. There have even been reports that die-hard fans have already begun to line-up at some theatres. It was announced earlier this week that advance tickets will go on sale at noon on May 12, one week before the May 19 opening. Tickets will be simultaneously sold by MovieFone (through the 777-FILM phone service as well as on-line at http://www,moviefone.com) and at theatre box offices that have booked the film. In what MovieFone considers an effort to ""minimize"" any scalping, a 12-ticket purchase limit will be enforced.
