LFCA Large Format Film Festival Program Will Feature New And Classic Features And Shorts Screenings In 8/70 And 15/70 Are Part Of LFCAís May 19-21 Conference

The annual meeting of the Large Format Cinema Association (LFCA) takes place in Los Angeles May 19-21, and will feature a unique Large Format Film Festival including full-length titles and shorts in 70mm 8-perforation (8/70) and 70mm 15-perforation (15/70). LFCA Film Festival Chair is Bill Bennett of MacGillivray Freeman Films, the producer and distributor of Everest says; ""Itís an exciting time for the large format industry. Awareness of the medium is growing by leaps and bounds. Theatre numbers are increasing. Consequently, filmmakers are taking new approaches to supply new, broader markets. This yearís lineup is both interesting and diverse."" The LFCA Film Festival is the only large format film festival that features screenings in both 8/70 and 15/70. ""Most of the 240-odd large format theatres currently operating are either 15/70 or 8/70,"" says LFCA President Christopher Reyna. ""Both types of theatres are increasing at the rate of about 30 percent a year, and films are now regularly cross-printed from one format to the other for maximum distribution. Thatís why it is important for exhibitors, distributors and producers to see films in both formats."" Films in 15/70 will be screened in the new 3D IMAX Theatre at the California Science Center on May 19 and 20. Films in 8/70 will be shown at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences on May 21. The event will close the evening of May 21 with a gala reception and screening of the 5/70 Hollywood classic, Lawrence Of Arabia, at the Lloyd E. Riegler Theatre at the Egyptian.
