Ovation Software has introduced its eagerly awaited DVD Video, ""AVIA Guide to Home Theater,"" DVD1001, which, with its live action tutorial introduction to home theatre and its extensive audio test tones and video calibration patterns, is one of the most comprehensive discs of its type available today. The new ""AVIA Guide"" will be of assistance to those just getting into home theatre as well as to those sophisticated enthusiasts and professionals who will use the disc to assure optimum performance of their systems. The easy-to-use new disc follows the companyís well reviewed CD-ROM for set-up and calibration of home theatre and is easily one of the most complex DVDs ever produced. ""We knew we were dealing with enormous amounts of dense and complicated material,"" says Ovation Executive Vice President, Tony Stump. ""But we wanted to present the material in a way that could be easily accessed and understood.""The disc utilizes a script written by Sound & Visionís technical editor, David Ranada, who also created its audio test tones. Ovation President, Dr. Guy Kuo is responsible for the video calibration patterns and related text. Sony is offering a special version of the disc at no cost with the purchase of some of its products. By exploiting the non-linear access capabilities of DVD, Ovation has produced a tool for the users to get as much information as they want. ""By using íhot buttoní to get to additional information, the novice can decide what he or she wants more information about. Also, advanced users can avoid the elementary sections, and go straight to specific technical segments,"" Mr. Stump said. The AVIA Guide includes 90 minutes of total audio content, 90 minutes of total video, and provides more than 40 minutes of live action audio/video. In addition, the program uses 2D and 3D graphics extensively, with more than 1,000 graphic elements created specifically for the project. While navigation is simple and intuitive, the ëAVIA Guide to Home Theaterí is the most complex DVD-Video title produced to date,"" said Ralph LaBarge, President of Alpha-DVD, the company charged with putting the elements together. The ""AVIA Guide to Home Theater"" comes with a set of three color slides for optimal video color balancing and has a suggested retail price of $49.99.
