After initially choosing to issue their movies only on VHS and DVD, DreamWorks Home Entertainment has decided to also issue their titles on LaserDisc beginning with ""Saving Private Ryan"" on June 29, 1999. Steven Spielbergís World War II epic was the winner of five Academy Awards and was the top-grossing North American movie of 1998 with just over $200 million in ticket sales. It was released for rental on VHS in May and a DVD edition, although rumored for Fall 1999 release, has yet to be announced. The LaserDisc will be a THXÆ-certified, DolbyÆ Digital 5.1 widescreen edition retailing for $39.99.The other DreamWorks LaserDisc titles announced are ""The Peacemaker"" (July 27, $29.99), ""Mouse Hunt"" (July 27, $29.99), ""Antz"" (August 3, $29.99), ""Paulie"" (August 3, $29.99), ""Amistad"" (August 10, $29.99) ""In Dreams"" (August 17, $29.99), ""Small Soldiers"" (August 17, $29.99) and ""The Prince Of Egypt"" (September 14, $29.99). All of the announced titles will be in widescreen format with Dolby Digital soundtracks.DreamWorks Home Entertainment has also announced the first six widescreen DVD titles to be offered with DTSÆ Digital Surround soundtracks. This was first speculated in a Widescreen ReviewÆ ""Daily News"" story on April 23, 1999 (see Web archive). The announced titles are ""Amistad,"" ""Antz,"" ""Mouse Hunt,"" ""Paulie,"" ""The Peacemaker"" and ""Small Soldiers.""
