Sony Optical Digital Selector Solves A/V Connection Crunch

The newly announced Sony SB-D30 optical digital selector connects and switches three digital audio sources to one audio input. Your home audio system is near digital completion, but thereís one snag - too many digital audio sources and not enough digital inputs in your receiver. As a result, you must disconnect and reconnect when you switch between your CD player, DVD player, MiniDisc recorder, A/V receiver or other digital audio sources. Sony solves the problem with the new SB-D30 optical digital selector. It has three optical digital inputs - two ToslinkÆ connectors and one minijack - and two optical digital outputs. The SB-D30 eliminates the need to disconnect and re-connect digital sources, and extends the versatility of an A/V receiver, digital preamp or digital processor. The SB-D30 accommodates: -MiniDisc recorders -DVD players -Satellite receivers -CD players -DAT recorders -A/V receivers -Digital preamplifiers -Digital processors - The SB-D30 measures 5 3/4-inch x 1-inch x 7 1/4-inch and weighs 1lb. 2oz. It has three-button source selection with red LEDs to indicate the selected source. The SB-D30 has an MSRP of $129 and will be available in July.
