Quad Teck Digital's new CD/DVD compatible surround sound mixes created from a stereo DAT recording were recently used in the new Sony Classical release of the Warner Brothers film ""The King and I."" This release is one of the first to use the High Digital Audio (HDDA) system. The new compatible CDs can be played on systems ranging from home or car stereos to high-end DVD audio systems. Such an innovation opens up a new realm for the DVD home theater, as now users can take advantage of the ProLogic button on amplifiers to experience full surround sound. On the other hand, they can just as easily switch to stereo with no loss in quality. This new remastering system is also being used on motion pictures to process 2-channel films into true, discrete 5.1 for DVD. To keep up with the HDDA demand, Quad Teck is currently adding a second remastering room to their facility.Other projects to use this HDDA system include the recent John Lee Hooker album from Virgin Records and Third Force's latest offering from Higher Octave Music.
