HDNet Films Offers Free Score For ìThe War Withinî; Creates New Value For Film Audiences

28-Sep-05

Having revolutionized the Hollywood paradigm with its ""day-and-date"" movie release strategy, Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner's HDNet Films continues to raise the entertainment and value bar for moviegoers. For the acclaimed HDNet Films project ""The War Within,"" to be released September 30, the company will offer a free Internet download of the entire musical score of the film with every ticket purchased via Moviefone and Movietickets.com (A $17.98 value, some restrictions apply). The score is written and performed by Free Association, a collaboration of world-famous DJ and film composer David Holmes (""Ocean's Eleven,"" ""Out of Sight"") and Steve Hilton. Directed and co-written by Joseph Castelo, ""The War Within"" is the story of Hassan (co-writer Ayad Akhtar in his debut performance), a Pakistani engineering student in Paris apprehended by Western intelligence services for suspected terrorism. Imprisoned and tortured, Hassan is provoked to action upon his release, embarking upon a conflicted mission that weaves a tale of profound human and political drama. ""Combining a great film like `The War Within' with a free download of an $18 soundtrack is just our first step toward creating additional value for the film going public,"" stated Mark Cuban, chairman of HDNet. ""Our goal at HDNet Films is to offer great films and to continually enhance the movie going experience. We think that offering the complete score of this movie to online ticket buyers is a great first step."" ""Our core business strategy is to create new opportunities for the consumer,"" says CEO Todd Wagner. ""Compared to releasing a teaser track or offering a giveaway to only the first 100 customers,"" Wagner says, ""what we're doing has never been done before. As studios and exhibitors search for ways to retain audiences frustrated with the theatre experience, we believe the competitive solution lies in increasing value for customers.""
