28-Sep-05

Following the spectacular success of its recent London reunion concerts, legendary rock group Cream will return for three U.S. shows at Madison Square Garden in New York, in October 2005. In support of these highly anticipated performances, JBLís acclaimed VerTec (Vertical Technology) line-array professional audio loudspeakers have been chosen for use in the concert sound system. Cream, comprising drummer Ginger Baker, bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce and guitarist/vocalist Eric Clapton, electrified the music world in the Sixties with its powerful playing and inventive musicianship. The group set new standards for musical virtuosity in rock music, and performed with a level of emotional intensity that has never been surpassed. In the 1960s, Cream established itself as one of the most influential rock bands of all time with classic songs such as ìSunshine of Your Love,î ìWhite Room,î ìBadgeî and their definitive live version of Robert Johnsonís ìCrossroads.î Cream was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. Cream will be playing at Madison Square Garden, one of the worldís most prestigious entertainment venues, on October 24, 25 and 26, 2005. The announcement of the upcoming dates follows months of speculation regarding whether the group would perform in the U.S. after its historic London reunion. Paul Bente, president of JBL Consumer Products, noted: ìJBL is extremely proud to be an important part of the upcoming Cream concerts, which build upon the excitement the group created in its recent Royal Albert Hall appearances.
