NEC New PC Employs DTS' Multi-Channel Decoder; First Major PC Manufacturer To Incorporate DTS Decoder As Standard Feature

DTS announced that NEC Corporation is incorporating DTS' multi-channel decoder as a standard on two upcoming PC models to be distributed in Japan by NEC Personal Products, Ltd. Both the NEC Multimedia PC VALUESTAR desktop series and the NEC Multimedia PC LaVie notebook series include the decoder, marking the first time a major PC manufacturer is including a DTS decoder as a standard feature. The VALUESTAR and LaVie series are currently available in Japan. The addition of the DTS multi-channel decoder in the NEC PCs allows consumers to enjoy content with best-in-class DTS soundtracks, including DVDs and surround music, on their PC. ""We're pleased to see such a large and established manufacturer such as NEC begin to include DTS decoders as a regular feature on new PC models,"" said Brian Towne, Vice President, Consumer Division at DTS.
