Pro Sound Comes Homeô

7-Jan-00

At CES 2000, JBL Consumer Products introduced its Performance Series home theatre and stereo loudspeakers, the companyís new high-end line loudspeaker line. The JBL Performance Series continues the companyís ""Pro Sound Comes Home"" design philosophy introduced in the JBL Studio and Northridge Series. At CES, JBL is also announcing the addition of the Model S36 compact satellite/surround loudspeaker to its acclaimed Studio Series line. Paul Bente, JBL Brand Manager noted, ""Initial response from dealers, the trade and the press to our new Studio and Northridge Series loudspeakers has been nothing less than phenomenal, exceeding even our most optimistic expectations - and the JBL Performance Series builds upon that success. The new high-end Performance Series is the ultimate expression of JBLís commitment to bring pro quality sound to the consumer market, and gives home listeners the means to create multichannel home theatre and music systems of extraordinary sonic caliber."" Designed For Pure Performance The JBL Performance Series is comprised of the Performance Tower, Performance Subwoofer with integral 400-watt amplifier and the Performance Center. The systemís modular design allows the Performance Tower to be stacked atop the Performance Subwoofer, mounted separately on a wall or installed on optional available stands, providing maximum installation flexibility in a wide variety of home theatre configurations and room sizes. JBL Performance Series loudspeakers utilize a unique shallow-profile enclosure design that allows the speakers to be mounted close to a wall. In addition to saving floor space, Performance Series loudspeakers are ideal for use in home-theater installations using plasma TV monitors or projection screens, to create a system with maximum audio and video impact while occupying a minimum of floor space. The loudspeakersí enclosures feature baffles with ""wings"" that flare away from either side of the drivers, reducing driver diffraction and controlling dispersion for precise image placement over a wider listening area. The speakers also feature a Wall Boundaryô control that precisely adjusts the bass response to compensate for placement either against a wall or freestanding. JBL Performance Series loudspeakers are designed to deliver maximum sonic impact in large-scale home theatre systems. They are designed to achieve clear, detailed, and dynamic reproduction of DolbyĆ Digital and DTSĆ discrete 5.1-channel soundtracks and other demanding program material, even at ""real-life"" listening levels. To this end, JBL Performance Series loudspeakers are constructed using professional-quality JBL drivers and components and the companyís most advanced technologies. A complete JBL Performance Series home theatre system will carry an estimated retail price of $8l000. Availability and specifications will be announced at CES 2000. JBL Studio Series S36: Compact And Versatile The JBL Studio S36 is the latest addition to JBLís acclaimed Studio Series loudspeakers. The new S36 is a compact wall-mountable three-way satellite/surround loudspeaker that excels in home-theater and stereo applications. Featuring a 1-inch titanium tweeter with EOS waveguide, 4-inch PolyPlasô midrange driver and 6-inch PolyPlas woofer, the S-36 delivers exceptionally well balanced, open, full-bodied sound with superb clarity and presence. The S36 is ideal for use in a five-speaker home theatre system as the left, center and right front and left and right surround channels, when paired with a compatible JBL powered subwoofer. The JBL Studio Series S36 will carry an estimated retail price of $450/pair. Availability will be spring 2000.
