Rental DVD Players Arriving In Specified Airports

12-Apr-00

Weary airport travelers now have something more entertaining to watch than the ""Departures"" and ""Arrivals"" screens as a result of a strategic multi-year licensing agreement that was announced between Blockbuster and InMotion Pictures, a privately held company that rents state-of-the-art portable DVD players and movies within airports across the country. As a result of the agreement, InMotion Pictures will feature the Blockbuster name on its locations. In addition, Blockbuster will have an equity interest in the company, as well as a representative on the company's Board of Directors. Currently, InMotion Pictures has locations in Portland, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Seattle, Denver, San Jose and San Diego, with plans to expand to Jacksonville, Orlando, Cincinnati, New York's La Guardia Airport and San Francisco by this fall. Locations are positioned in centrally located areas in participating airports, allowing travelers who have connecting flights or are hurrying to their destination to quickly return the player and movies. Airport travelers in any of the terminals that feature an InMotion Pictures location are able to rent a portable DVD player and movie using their credit card. The company provides customers with a portable, battery-powered DVD player, one feature movie and a personal stereophonic headset. The equipment and movies are returned at any airport with an InMotion Pictures location. The fee is $10 per day and additional movies are $4.00. An extra headset may also be rented enabling traveling companions to share the system and watch a movie together. First time renters may establish membership at http://www.inmotionpictures.com or at any InMotion Pictures location. Source: DVDInsider.com
