Miller & Kreisel Sound Introduces Diminutive LCR-45 For 5.1 Multichannel Or Two-Channel Satellite Subwoofer Systems

Companyís Smallest Speaker Has Sound Big Enough To Fill A Room

24-Apr-00

Itís big enough to fill a room, yet small enough to fit in anywhere. Miller & Kreisel Soundís (M&K) LCR-45 speaker ($199 each) is only 7 7/8 (H) x 4 7/8 (W) x 6 1/4 (D) inches, yet it packs enough high-performance capabilities to excel as either the main, center or surround speakers in even the most sophisticated 5.1 multichannel setup or two-channel satellite-subwoofer system. With a remarkable power-handling capability of 200 watts maximum, the LCR-45 also boasts great looks that feature an acoustically inert, heavy curved mesh metal grille that doesnít have the typical buzz and rattle found with other speakersí metal grilles. The attractive black or white cabinet will blend in with any home entertainment dÈcor. Designed to studio reference standards, the LCR-45ís audible superiority over typical speakers of this size is, in part, thanks to a high-performance 1-inch fabric dome Neodymium tweeter and 4-inch polypropylene woofer. The tweeter incorporates a heatsink assembly for very high power handling and to minimize dynamic compression for full dynamic range at high output levels. Both drivers are magnetically shielded to avoid interference when speakers are placed near a television or computer monitor. Additional sonic benefits come from the advanced technology of M&Kís proprietary Phase-Focused crossover, which optimizes both on- and off-axis response. The LCR-45 doesnít require the listener to sit in the speakerís ""sweet spot"" (directly where the speakers are focused) in order to enjoy its superior imaging and sound quality, as well as remarkable dialog intelligibility. For easy installation, the cabinet has integral mounts for M&K corner or wall mounting brackets and ST speaker stands, as well as an included flush mount hanger. Headquartered in Culver City, California, M&K has been a pioneering leader in the fields of high-end loudspeakers and subwoofers for the home and studio environments and both analog and digital audiophile recording since 1974.
