Panasonic Brings Digital AM/FM Tuner, Long Play Time To New Shockwave Portable CD Player

Panasonic offers more options in its ShockWave CD player line with the introduction of the new SL-SW869V, which combines the tough, ShockWave concept with a built-in AM/FM tuner, CD player and long play time.  With the new ShockWave SL-SW869V, you shouldnít get bored with your music. This new model adds an AM/FM digitally-synthesized tuner to a traditional CD model. A digital tuner assures that stations wonít drift once theyíre set, and owners can preset up to 30 stations in memory, 20 FM and 10 AM. Five direct preset buttons make it quick and easy to access the stored stations.  Model SL-SW869V boasts all the design elements that make ShockWave products durable enough for active use: a water-resistant shell and a dual-lock mechanism to ensure the CD compartment closes tightly. Additionally, a special gasket-type seal around the CD lid and a deep-seated, water-resistant battery compartment makes this portable even less susceptible to damage from sand, water and the like. This new AM/FM-equipped CD player is backed by Panasonicís improved Anti-Shock Memory 4.0 (ASM 4.0). This technology spins discs faster than normal, storing up to 40 secondsí worth of music data in memory. When a vertical shock (along the axis of the disc) causes a tracking error, the system plays back music from the memory buffer until correct tracking resumes. In addition, ASM 4.0 adds an improved set of error correcting chips offering +100 percent and -75 percent error correction to handle most jolts without ever having to use the memory reserve. ASM 4.0 also uses a lighter and faster spindle motor for faster re-tracking along with improved rubber bushings to better isolate the traverse mechanism from bumps. The result is our best anti-skip system ever to provide virtually skip-free performance. The perfect partner while jogging or walking, this CD player features a thin, compact and lightweight body, a hand grip and lightweight headphones. Long 25-hour* playback from two ""AA"" batteries (using the CD) ensures itís ready to go when you are. And that 25-hour operation time is with the Anti-Shock Memory on, so users wonít have to sacrifice smooth, skip-free CD performance for extended use. CD sound is exceptionally crisp and well-defined with the MASH** 1-bit digital-to-analog converter. Because it provides exceptional signal linearity, the MASH DAC reproduces all of the subtle sounds that might otherwise be drowned out by louder instruments, while Super Extra Bass System (S-XBS) lends added bass response. With 24-track random access programming, users can make their disc selections ahead of time, then enjoy the music without interruption. Other playback options include Random, Repeat (track, program or disc) and Resume, which picks up where the unit left off when last stopped. Thereís also a Hold switch to prevent accidental button-pushing. Many of these functions can be performed with a three button wireless remote control (with detachable headphones). Aside from standard battery operation, the SL-SX869V can operate by using the included AC adapter or optional rechargeable batteries or car power adapter. Operation buttons are clustered around a central LCD, which displays disc status and radio station information. Other functionality features include a ""pop-up"" disc eject mechanism for easy disc removal, auto-power off to prevent battery drainage and a heat-resistant polycarbonate body.
