5-Jun-00

C-Cube Microsystems (NASDAQ: CUBE) announced the successful interoperability testing of a C-Cube digital set-top box solution with Cisco's Digital Video Broadcasting/Digital Audio Video Council (DVB/DAVIC) standards-based head-end. The tests featured C-Cubeís set-top silicon and the solution's DVB/DAVIC-compliant Media Access Controller (MAC) interoperating with the Cisco INA2320 Interactive Network Adapter, which Cisco announced earlier this month. The set-top box solution provides the 2-way HFC gateway cable operators need to deliver interactive services such as electronic program guides, video-on-demand ordering, interactive TV and Internet services including home banking and shopping and email. ""We are delighted to have helped demonstrate the ability of Cisco's INA2320 to support two-way interactive DAVIC/DVB standards in two different set-top designs powered by C-Cube's AViA@TVset-top silicon and software,"" said C-Cube CEO Umesh Padval. ""C-Cube has always focused on developing the highest quality standards-based solutions."" On the strength of deployments for cable providers MediaOne and NTL, C-Cube, a leader in digital video, has become a leading worldwide provider of DVB/DAVIC two-way interactive set-top solutions. ""Cisco is committed to standards-based digital set-top solutions,"" said Paul Bosco, Vice President and General Manager of Cisco's Cable Product and Solutions Business Unit. ""C-Cube's expertise in developing DVB/DAVIC standards-based MAC set-top solutions was a primary reason we turned to its technology for these important tests of our INA2320.""
