Infinity's Preludeô MTS Wins Gold Industrial Design Excellence Award

6-Jun-00

Infinity Systems, Inc., announced that its Prelude MTS loudspeakers have won a prestigious Gold Industrial Design Excellence Award (IDEA) from the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). A jury of leading industrial design experts selected Infinity's Prelude MTS as one of 40 Gold IDEA2000 award winners from more than 1,078 products submitted. In addition, the IDSA granted 71 Silver and 5 Bronze IDEA awards. Co-sponsored by the Industrial Designers Society of America and Business Week magazine, the IDEA has become the world's most significant recognition of excellence in industrial design. Entries for IDEA2000 were judged based on how well they fulfilled five criteria: design innovation, benefit to the user, benefit to the client/business, ecological responsibility, and appropriate aesthetics and appeal. Winners are listed in the June 12, 2000 issue of Business Week (on sale June 2), and the Prelude MTS will also be featured in the fall issue of ""Innovation: Yearbook Of Industrial Design Excellence."" ""This award validates one of the hallmarks of Infinity,"" noted Eli Harary, Infinity Brand Manager, ""to combine cutting-edge home entertainment technologies with innovative aesthetic designs. The Prelude MTS exemplifies Infinity's commitment to advance the art and science of audio. We thank the Industrial Designers Society of America for recognizing our efforts with its Gold IDEA award."" The noted ID firm Ashcraft Design worked closely with Infinity to create the Prelude MTS. Daniel Ashcraft, the firm's President, pointed out, ""From its conception, we wanted the Prelude MTS to be as distinctive in appearance as it would be in performance. The use of aluminum as enclosure material enabled us to create a unique, sculptured appearance that not only looks striking and complements the home environment, but also provides significant sonic advantages compared to conventional loudspeaker enclosures."" The new Infinity Prelude MTS is a technologically advanced stereo and home theatre loudspeaker system incorporating Infinity's groundbreaking Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragmô (CMMDô) driver technology and Room Adaptive Bass Optimization Systemô (RABOSô) to achieve a new level of sonic accuracy and musicality. The Prelude MTS utilizes all CMMD drivers, including a 1-inch tweeter, a 3.5-inch midrange, four 5.25-inch mid-bass drivers and an integrated 12-inch, 850-watt subwoofer to re-create the musical and home-theater experience with utterly breathtaking fidelity and emotional impact. The loudspeaker's appearance is as exceptional as its performance and technology-a stunningly beautiful, gracefully contoured, anodized-aluminum enclosure complemented by the polished, exotic-wood finish of its subwoofer module. In addition to the Gold IDEA, the Prelude MTS loudspeaker system has won an Innovations 2000 Design and Engineering Award from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), as well as a 1999 GOOD DESIGN Award from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.
