The Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) has announced Microsoft Corporation as its EXPO 2000 keynote breakfast sponsor. As sponsor of this year's breakfast, Microsoft will provide executive Jon DeVaan as the keynote speaker.DeVaan will be speaking during CEDIA EXPO 2000's keynote breakfast on September 8 in Indianapolis, Indiana. With a limited number of tickets, EXPO 2000 attendees are encouraged to register in advance for the breakfast. CEDIA EXPO 2000 will be held at the Indiana Convention Center on September 6-10, 2000. DeVaan is Senior Vice President of Microsoft Corporation's Consumer Group. As Senior Vice President, DeVaan is responsible for the core businesses of Microsoft WebTVÆ Service and the Microsoft TV platform. Before becoming Senior Vice President of the corporation's consumer group, DeVaan held a number of positions within Microsoft Corporation. From 1985-94, DeVaan worked in several positions, including a software design engineer and a development manager of Microsoft Excel versions 1-5. During this period, he provided essential management on cross-platform technology and helped pioneer the development processes used to create Microsoft products. DeVaan also served as Vice President and Director of Development of MicrosoftÆ Office applications and oversaw the development of Microsoft Office 95 and 97.In addition, DeVaan led the initial design of Microsoft Office 2000, setting the direction of the product to make Internet technologies seamlessly integrated and easy to use. Most recently, DeVaan led Microsoft's Desktop Applications Division. In this position, he was responsible for the Microsoft Office family of applications and advanced application technologies. DeVaan holds Bachelor of Science degrees in both mathematics and computer science form Oregon State University. He lives with his wife and daughters in the greater Seattle area.
