EchoStar Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH, DISHP) has announced that DISH Networkô now offers local WCPO-ABC (Ch. 9), WKRC-CBS (Ch. 12) and WXIX-FOX (Ch. 19) satellite television to the 24 counties in the greater metro area of Cincinnati, Ohio. With the addition of Cincinnati, DISH Network now offers local channels via satellite TV in 32 cities and their metro areas nationwide. DISH Network customers will be able to receive local ABC, CBS and FOX network affiliates immediately. DISH Network will add the NBC affiliate, WLWT (Ch. 5), when DISH Network is able to obtain retransmission consent on reasonable terms from Hearst-Argyle Television, Inc., who owns WLWT-NBC. DISH Network will offer the ABC, CBS and FOX affiliates at no charge until WLWT-NBC can be added to the local channel package. With final passage of satellite TV legislation by Congress last December, DISH Network can now provide cable customers local ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX network channels for a package price of $4.99 per month. A national PBS channel can be purchased for an additional $1 per month. DISH Network also plans to offer popular independent network channels in some markets. DISH Network offers local channels to the Cincinnati area in the following metro area counties: Adams, Boone, Bracker, Brown, Butler (north and south), Campbell, Clermont, Clinton, Dearborn, Franklin, Gallatin, Grant, Hamilton, Highland, Inid, Kenton, Mason, Ohio, Owen, Pendleton, Robertson, Switzerland, Ripley and Warren (north and south).
