NAD Launches CD Recorder, Stereo Receiver, Tuner, Stereo Amplifiers And CD Player To Augment Classic Series

8-Sep-00

NAD leads off a new lineup of stereo products with the C660 CD recorder, a dual-transport CD-R/CD-RW deck. With the additional benefit of MP3 decoding capability, the C660 can deliver more than 20 hours of background music (10 hours per disc). Many of NADís updated components also feature ""custom installation friendliness,"" with 12-volt turn-on triggers for integrated system power-up from a remote location, discrete IR command codes, and direct access to FM presets. NAD C660 CD Recorder The dual-tray C660 offers CD-R recording at up to 4X normal speed. It employs a separate DSP IC to run the Fraunhofer MP3 algorithm. NAD C350 And C370 Integrated Amplifiers, C270 Power Amplifier NAD continues to upgrade and expand its Classic Series stereo component line with its new C350 and C370 stereo integrated amplifiers, and C270 power amplifier. All three amplifiers feature NADís Impedance Sensing Circuit (ISC) topology. Designed by Bjorn Erik Edvardsen, ISC automatically recognizes the impedance characteristics of a connected loudspeaker and adjusts the ampís power-supply settings to best cope with that load. The C370 and C270 amplifiers claimed to deliver up to 450 watts into 2 ohms and as much as 50 amps of peak current output into 1 ohm. The C350 is rated to produce 60 watts per channel continuously into 8 ohms at 0.03 percent THD, with its IHF dynamic power output (short term) at 240 watts per channel into 2 ohms and 135 watts per channel into 8 ohms. Toroidal power transformers and discrete power-output circuits are used in all three amplifiers. The C370 stereo integrated amp and C270 power amp are rated at 120 watts continuous per channel into 8 ohms (0.03 percent THD). When the C370 or C270 is bridged to mono, the output is 300 watts continuously into 8 ohms with an IHF dynamic headroom capability specified at 500 watts. The C350 and C370 feature relay input switching, seven line inputs and two tape loops, dual preamp outputs, defeatable tone controls, short signal paths, remote controls a 12-volt trigger output for remote on/off switching of ancillary components, switchable Soft Clipping circuitry and, in the C370, front panel and remote A/B speaker switching. The C270 basic power amp adds an input level control, a 12-volt trigger input and a double set of speaker binding posts for simplified bi-wiring. NAD C730 AM/FM Stereo Receiver The C730 AM/FM stereo receiver features six line inputs with two tape monitor loops, 30 AM/FM station presets with eight-character alphanumeric naming, RDS text and program display (for signals from RDS-equipped broadcasters), direct access to FM presets, a full remote control, preamp outputs, a 12-volt trigger output for automatic switching of remote components, switchable Soft Clipping circuitry and tone controls with a defeat switch. The C730ís internal amp, which has discrete output stages, is rated at 30 watts per channel continuous into 8 ohms, from 20Hz to 20kHz, with 0.05 percent THD. Its dynamic output capability is stated as 90 watts into 2 ohms with greater than 20 amps current capability. NAD C420 Stereo Tuner The C420 AM/FM stereo tuner has a specified frequency response of 15Hz to 15kHz, and features a MOSFET front end, 30 AM/FM station presets with eight-character alphanumeric naming, RDS text and program display, a 12-volt trigger input for remote switching capability, direct access to station presets and a non-volatile memory for retaining station tuning data should the C420 be controlled via a switched AC outlet. NAD C521 Compact Disc Player The transport of NADís new C521 compact disc player has enhanced tracking ability, especially with CD-Rs. The C521 uses Burr-Brown Sigma-Delta digital-to-analog converters with 20-bit resolution, and has a remote control with direct track access, 20-track programming, and a repeat mode for a single track or an entire CD. The C521 uses separate power regulation for analog and digital sections and has a coaxial digital output, buffered and transformer-isolated. All products will be available this fall.
